5 WAYS TO CELEBRATE YOUR COASTAL HOLIDAY

By Erin Linn McMullan

Brighten up your holidays this season in our warm west coast community of n̓ačiqs (Tofino) within Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Parks. From active adventure to festive community events from Christmas fare to fireworks and a Polar dip, we’ve put together a quick guide to inspire holiday memory-making. Breathe in fresh salt air and the scent of the rainforest as you enjoy evergreen delights like low-tide explorations and showstopping sunsets followed by a cozy beachfront bonfire against a skyscape awash with glittering t̓at̓uus (stars).

Discover these 5 ways to reignite your holiday spark:

FAMILY-FRIENDLY TOFINO WINTER NIGHTS

Make those dark winter nights sparkle with Tofino Winter Nights’ free and low-cost family-friendly fun. Bring your own skates to the community centre for a Roller Disco Party (Dec. 20), craft beaded ornaments with Nuu-chah-nulth artist Elizabeth George (Dec. 21st) at the Tofino Visitor Centre, and sample the Hot Cocoa Trail all through the holiday season.

Explore the calendar and register Here.

WEST COAST HOLIDAY ADVENTURES

Winter adventures abound in n̓ačiqs (Tofino) and on the west coast from winter surfing to glowing up at a beachfront Nordic spa with the world’s largest saltwater lounge (the Pacific) and breathtaking beach walks and forest hikes (22 kms of beaches and 12 kms of trails) in the co-managed Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.

HOLIDAY FEASTS AND HOT COCOA

Come together with your family and friends and our west coast community to share fantastic food and whip cream-topped hot cocoa this season from the Hot Cocoa Trail to a community Christmas dinner (Dec. 20th at 6 p.m. at Tofino Legion) to a buffet Christmas breakfast at Tofino Browns Socialhouse (7–10 a.m.).For more information on the free community Christmas dinner (turkey or vegan with trimmings) email John Enns Here.

NEW YEAR’S EVE FIREWORKS AT TINWIS BEACH

Come early to enjoy the annual community fireworks which begin on tinwis Beach at 9:30 p.m. on December 31st, 2025. B.Y.O.S. (bring your own sparklers)! This family-friendly event is co-hosted by Tin Wis Resort and all our neighbours: Crystal Cove Beach Resort, Ocean Village Resort, and MacKenzie Beach Resort.

Plan your New Year’s Eve Here.

PLUNGE INTO 2026 WITH A POLAR DIP

Start 2026 with a sense of renewal by joining Surfrider Pacific Rim’s annual Polar Dip on New Year’s Day at tinwis Beach. Warm back up at the beachfront Nordic sauna (first-come first-serve) and with hot chocolate and a bonfire (weather permitting). Bring your own bathing suit, towel, and mug.

Watch for updated details on the Polar Dip Here.

The Tofino Visitor Centre at 1426 Pacific Rim Hwy is open throughout the holidays (except Dec. 25 and Jan. 1) with shorter holiday hours on Dec. 4 and 31 (9:30 a.m.– 4 p.m.).
